Description

After the huge success of John Carpenter's Halloween in 1978, NBC reportedly kicked around the idea of turning the film into an animated television series for the 1979 season. The show would have taken inspiration from the hand-drawn look of late-1960s and early-1970s cartoons, mixing spooky atmosphere with stylized animation and simplified character designs. The plan was to follow Michael Myers as he continued terrorizing the quiet town of Haddonfield, with Laurie Strode trying to survive his attacks while Dr. Loomis desperately warned everyone about the danger of "The Shape."⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Instead of focusing on gore, the cartoon was supposed to lean more into suspense and creepy imagery-empty streets at night, flickering jack-o'-lanterns, shadowy hallways, and Michael silently appearing in the background before vanishing again. Early artwork reportedly featured bold outlines, flat colors, and dramatic lighting similar to the adventure and mystery cartoons of the era.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Even though NBC showed early interest and some promotional artwork and story concepts were developed, the project was eventually canceled before production could fully begin. Network executives were worried about adapting a controversial horror movie into an animated series, especially for television audiences, and the cost of producing the moody hand-drawn animation style also became a concern. By the end of 1979, the project had quietly disappeared, becoming one of those strange "what could have been" ideas lost to time.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Inspired by this fictional legend of a canceled 1979 Halloween animated television series, this latest custom trading card release from Jack's Attic imagines what surviving animation cels from that lost production might have looked like.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
A lost cartoon from a universe just slightly darker than our own.⁣

This debut three-card set features fabricated animation cel relic cards showcasing "The Shape", Michael Myers, Dr. Loomis, and the iconic title sequence jack-o’-lantern from the film. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Each piece is crafted with the signature quality, detail, and vintage-inspired presentation that the Jack’s Attic brand has become known for.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Limited to just 25 sets, this release marks the beginning of a four (4) part series. Each upcoming wave will feature three (3) new animation cel relic cards inspired by the imagined world of a lost 1979 Halloween animated series.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Each card comes penny sleeved and sealed inside a protective top loader to ensure pristine condition while remaining fully display ready.⁣⁣

While these cards are professionally printed, they are assembled and cut by hand and as such, there will be ever so slight variances in the card dimensions and centering. They should be viewed as small batch, handmade, collectible art pieces.⁣
